The Impact Youth Foundation G.A.M.E. program made its way from being just a side article, to being on the front page of the sports section in the Tacoma Weekly. David Hardt does a great job describing what happens during the afternoons at the CUP. Click the article link below for more!

Impact Sports Academy Grand Opening September 3, 2010
Posted Sep 8, 2010

On September 3, 2010, Impact Sports Academy officially opened its doors to the public during its Grand Opening event. It was a star-studded event, featuring appearances from local basketball legends Avery Bradley of the Boston Celtics, and Isaiah Thomas and Abdul Gaddy of the University of Washington. The grand opening began with speeches from the owners, Michael and Laurie Williams, and the gym director, Andy Nelson. Following these introductions, Isaiah Thomas delivered the ceremonial "first assist" to one lucky kid in the audience, who was privileged to receive the pass and make the first shot. This was proceeded by a dunk exhibition from Tacoma Community College player Kevin Davis, who wowed the audience with a fantastic display of athleticism. As the night progressed, people were allowed to tour the world-class basketball and volleyball facility, while children in attendance shot around on the courts and went to receive autographs from and take pictures with the celebrity guests.

Many thanks to all who attended. In total we had nearly three hundred people in attendance for which we are extremely thankful!

We would also like to thank Brandy McDevitt who took pictures of the event. (facebook.com/chef.jaiden)
